Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX) is the major gateway to Northern
Thailand; approx 3km south west of the city centre and takes around 10 to 15
minutes by car. The airport is reached by the Super Highway and Chiang Mai
Hod Road. The airport has only one terminal that deals with domestic and
international flights. Check-in counters are situated in the centre of the
ground floor; arrivals are at the northern end of the building, while
departures are upstairs on the mezzanine level. The airport does not allow
tricycles and cars without passengers to go through into the terminal area,
so if you are being picked up by friends or family you have to exit the
airport areas to meet them. For hotel guests, hotel limousines are provided
for every flight, these pick-up/drop-off services are very cheap or even
free. Check with your hotel to see if they provide this service. There is
sufficient, secure parking outside Chiang Mai Airport, only 10 baht per
hour. The Bangkok route is one of the busiest in the country with Thai
Airways flights almost every hour and extra flights in the height of the
tourist season.
Local Transport
Getting from the airport to the city is straightforward, outside the
airport you will find lots of tuk tuks and songtaew minibuses, the average
price should be 100 baht for a journey to most places in central Chiang Mai.
The return journey back to the airport is only 50 baht.
Taxis
After you have collected your baggage and cleared customs walk into the
reception hall and turn left. The taxis operate from the north end of the
terminal. Airport Taxis charge a flat fee of 140 baht for up to 5
passengers anywhere in the city. Metered Taxi fees will start from 40
baht plus a 50 baht service fee from the Meter Taxi stand.
Bus
Local bus number 4 will take you to the city centre for 15 baht.

find the Transportation Service Counter on the first floor opposite the
domestic arrival lounge. You will also find information regarding bus
