Suvarnabhumi Airport Rail Service to Start in August
The State Railway of Thailand has announced that the new $800 million (US) rail link connecting Suvarnabhumi Airport with downtown Bangkok will begin commercial operations on August 23.
The train will operate on two routes.
- 1. Between the airport and the new City Air Terminal at Makkasan station, where passengers will also be able to check-in their luggage and receive boarding passes. The journey will take 15 minutes.
- 2. A local commuter route will will stop eight times along the way and take 30 minutes to reach the airport.
The fair will be 100 baht each way between Suvarnabhumi Airport and Makkasan station in Bangkok.
Trains on each route will depart every 15 minutes. The Express line will take 15 minutes , while the City Line will take 30 mins.
