As was announced a few days ago, the first low-fare, long-haul airline of Thailand, Thai AirAsia X, will begin two new Middle Eastern services. Starting from 22nd and 28th June, the carrier will operate direct flights from Bangkok to the capital cities of Iran and Oman – Tehran and Muscat.

Thai AirAsia X will operate direct flights on both Bangkok-Tehran and on Bangkok-Muscat. It will service Tehran route three times per week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and Muscat also three times a week – Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

2,990 baht for Economy, 9,990 for Business Class Seats

Introducing the new routes, Thai AirAsia X is offering a special promo fare starting at 2,990 baht for Economy Class and 9,990 for Business Class seats. The airline will use Airbus A330-300 aircraft on the routes. Each plane will include 365 Economy Class and 12 premium flat-bed Business Class seats.

Nadda Buranasiri, Chief Executive Officer at Thai AirAsia X, said TAAX will be the first low-cost carrier from Thailand to fly to this region, making this an important milestone for the company. He also said he is confident that Bangkok and Muscat, with their travel and investment potential, will prove to be popular destinations for travelers from Thailand.

TAAX CEO said:

Thailand has been recognized by people in Oman and Tehran as a hub for leisure and medical tourism. They are big spenders with tremendous growth. We expect a passenger ratio of 80 per cent from foreign travellers and 20 per cent from Thais.

The airline expects to serve around 100,000 passengers from Iran and another 130,000 travelers from Oman per year. In total, TAAX expects to serve 1.1 million passengers in 2016.

Mr Nadda also said:

Iran as a travel destination offers a unique civilization that Thai tourists will be thrilled to explore. Under its ‘Ancient Elegant’ concept, the country presents artefacts and architecture of great value. Oman, meanwhile, is a place for adventure and is full of hip and chic experiences, making it perfect for Thai people who have yet to go on a desert journey. We are sure tourist numbers from Thailand to both Iran and Oman will grow satisfyingly.

Apart from Iran and Oman routes, Thai AirAsia X also flies to Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul and Shanghai.
