Thai Airways the Thai National Airline Company
Thai Airways, the country’s largest airline and national flag carrier, has won its 8th consecutive “Best Intercontinental Airline” Award. This prestigious honor was awarded at the Norwegian Grand Travel Award for 2012.
Attended by leaders and key decision makers in the travel industry as well as top travel agencies, the Grand Travel Award event involves nominees chosen via travel trade jury and subjected to a voting process in which 800 randomly selected travel agents all over Norway take part.
“This award has encourages us to always strive for higher standards in the Norwegian market.” Arnuphap Kittikul, Thai Airways’ Norway General Manager said upon receiving the award. “We continue our commitment in providing THAI’s renowned products and services.”
Thai Airways is Thailand’s largest airline and the country’s national flag carrier. It was launched in 1988, and for the most part operates out of the country’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport. Known around the world in capital letters, as THAI, the airline has plans to debut its own regional carrier, Thai Smile, in mid-2012 using their newly-acquired Airbus A320 aircraft.
THAI currently has a fleet of 92 passenger aircraft that services 72 destinations in 35 countries around the world. Its non-stop flight from Bangkok to Los Angeles is touted to be among the 10 longest non-stop commercial flights in the industry. THAI is the first ever airline based in the Asia-Pacific region to open flights to London’s Heathrow Airport, and possesses, in fact, one of the largest air passenger operations in Europe.
The airline has also received international recognition from the World Health Organization for its first-rate measures to promote in-flight hygiene.
THAI presently offers a “Fly boutique Stay boutique” promotion where passengers can purchase a ticket for a domestic flight via its website and get one night’s free stay for a two-night booking at www.allresortthailand.com. It has also introduced new flights from the capital city of Bangkok to Varanasi and Bodhgava.
Regular promotions include “Fly Me Now” flights from Suvarnabhumi Airport to different points in Asia, and special fares for domestic youths, and domestic senior citizens over 60.
